Puzzle for Charity Rules

  • There is no cost to participate. Everyone is eligible to play except the designer(s) of the puzzle.
  • All Entries shall be made via e-mail.No attachments will be accepted. Any entries with attachments will be deleted or bounced, and not considered for the prize.
  • Entries must include the following:
  • 1) Name and Location (Country, State, City) (this will be kept private) 2) Screen name or alias (for posting on the front page of this site in the event you win) 3) The EXACT correct guess and 4) The COMPLETE REASONING behind your guess. Many of the puzzles have several parts that need to be reasoned through to arrive at the answer, so make sure you have COMPLETELY solved the puzzle. 5) The phrase “I have read and understood the Rules of this website” Guesses without this information will be ignored!
  • Only the first correct entry will win the prize. I will check the mail as often as is reasonable. In the unlikely event of a tie, the prize will be shared among the winners.
  • Puzzles will stay up for as long as they need to, but may be changed out for any time and for any reason. New challenges will be put up as often as needed. This may depend on the difficulty and/or popularity of the puzzle.
  • Entries must give the decoded message EXACTLY as it appears. Occasionally, the puzzles will have intentional misspellings or non-standard English grammar as part of the solutions.
  • You may guess as often as you wish. There is no cost to do so. However, you will not be informed if you are “getting warm” or not. Only correct answers will get a response.
  • DO NOT SEND FINANCIAL OR OTHERWISE PERSONAL DATA WITH YOUR GUESS
  • The puzzle may be updated at any time for corrections in design or function. Although each of the puzzles will be tested, sometimes ambiguities or alternate answers may pop up. For example, if the puzzle asked you to unscramble this English word R A W T S, the intended correct answer may be STRAW, whereas a seemingly valid guess may be WARTS. If the letters of the puzzle were made of haystacks, however, the answer would clearly be STRAW.
  • Solutions to the MOST RECENT PUZZLE will be accepted (sometimes puzzles are updated or changed) so make sure you have the correct version of the puzzle before submitting an answer.
  • You MUST have an active PayPal account to claim the Prize.
  • Prize claims will be handled via e-mail only. This site will contact you via e-mail if you have won with further information.
  • Although the Prize amount will never go down during the course of a puzzle, I may decide to increase the amount for any reason.
  • The charities will remain up until the puzzle is solved.
